The concept of "Lean" business has long been confined to the field of manufacturing and manufacturing support. Leading Lean Manufacturing concepts include TPS( Toyota Production System) and Six Sigma. These systems evolved from a desire to reduce the waste in the manufatoring process while improving quality and safety. The goal of this wiki is to strive to apply the fundemental concetps field of Landscaping in order to reduce any waste, improve quality and safety. Recently the company of Zebra Landscape and Tree Care of Lafayette, IN has begun to attempt to implement the principals of Lean Business.
This is a multi directional approach concentrating on developing Standard Operating Procedures, gathering data related to downtime and work difficulties, and encouraging employee improvement suggestions. Activities planned for later include focusing on 1 and 2S in common working areas such as the shop and trucks.
